Sandy Adelstein - Kindergarten Teacher

Hello!  My name is Sandy Adelstein and I would like to welcome you to my first grade class!  I have been teaching elementary school for over 30 years.  The first 31 years were in public education in Fort Bend ISD.  I taught 1st, 3rd, and 4th grades through the years and I am trained in G/T and Reading Recovery.  In 2012, I came to THRS and I can honestly say that joining this amazing “THRS family” was the best professional decision I ever made.  How refreshing it is to work along side of peers that are excited and look forward to each day with their students!

I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Elementary Education.  Go Longhorns!

My students and I spend many hours together each day at school.  It is important to me that they feel a sense of family in our classroom.  We are all responsible for showing honor and respect to each other, therefore, creating a “safe” environment where learning and discovery can take place.  We learn in centers, small groups and whole group lessons depending on the situation.  I have a true love of books and an extensive library that the students have access to.  My reading lessons combine the Journeys book with lots of wonderful children’s books full of rich text and illustrations.

THRS offers students so many amazing opportunities and I am honored to be part of the faculty!
